I'm sure you've noticed a lot of holiday gift ideas, but hopefully you've found some helpful instead of annoying and jamming up your newsfeed/inbox/reader. I have been having fun posting about the different things available this holiday season, and no, I'm not quite done yet. But, both boys are sick and I need to take a little break!
The Captain has had a low grade fever for a couple of days, along with a runny nose and cough. Baby D has been in good spirits but wanted to take a super early nap yesterday and then woke up early with a cough this morning, but no fever yet. I'm just trying to be as patient as possible with my two sickies and give them what they need. It's hard, I tell ya, dealing with the whining and lack of sleep, but it's my job, so I'll keep on keeping on! I had to go re-read my "Getting Sick Kids to Cooperate" post from last year for tips because the Captain does NOT want to take any kind of medicine because "it tastes yucky."
I interviewed the Captain this morning, just to hear his opinion on being sick. I think I forget to be empathetic sometimes. I know, that sounds horrible, but you know how sicknesses really don't seem that bad until you're actually the one who is sick. God bless all of you nurses out there who are constantly taking care of sick people!
What makes you feel better when you're sick?
"medicine and fizzly bubbly and water" (Fizzly bubbly is ½ of an Airborne dissolved in juice!)
Whenever you're sick, what do you want?
"My family."
What do you like to do when you're sick?
"I like to stay home."
What do you not like about being sick?
"I can't go anywhere."
The last one is oh so true. He wasn't able to go to Wednesday night Bible class and it made him very upset. Although sometimes he doesn't like to be away from Mommy & Daddy, he does love church and Bible class. But, he had to learn that we just can't go to places like that when we're sick and risk getting everyone else sick. He's also missing school today, which I really hate because he has decided he doesn't want to go anyway, so I'm sure this will set us back, but we gotta do what we gotta do, I guess. I don't want to get his friends at school sick, either!
I hope you are all well and have a great day! And if you have any tips for making sick kids feel comfortable or fun things to do when your child is sick, let me know!

We had sickies a few weeks ago and they were aloud to stay in bed all day, watching movies, eating and drinking in their rooms (which we don't normally do) and order mommy and daddy around all day while they relaxed! Our girls loved every minute of it, they thought they were so special! Hope you all feel better soon!

I think this is so true! My kids were sick over the week of Thanksgiving and my daughter held her Bible classes with her dolls because she was so sad she missed two meetings :) Love that it is something important to them at such a young age!
And nothing is quite like Mama's hugs and cuddles when the little ones are sick!
