This family favorite combines tangy pepperoncini peppers with alfredo for a winning combination. Served over rice, pasta, or even on a toasted bun, there is a variation for everyone’s preferences.
The delicious sauce is creamy and satisfying. This is one of those easy recipes you want to keep on hand for a great weeknight meal that is quick and relatively easy. It does take a little planning to make sure that you have all of the simple ingredients on hand.
What are pepperoncinis?
Pepperoncinis, also known as Tuscan peppers, golden Greek peppers, or sweet Italian peppers, are a type of mild chili pepper. They are typically bright yellow or green and are about 2 to 3 inches long. They are commonly pickled and used as a condiment or ingredient in various dishes. Pepperoncinis have a tangy, mildly spicy flavor and are often found in salads, sandwiches, and antipasto platters. They are also popular as a pizza topping and can be used to add a bit of zest to various recipes.
Are pepperoncinis banana peppers?
Pepperoncinis and banana peppers are similar but distinct types of peppers. Pepperoncinis are usually more wrinkled, while banana peppers have smoother skin and a more uniform appearance. Pepperoncinis are mildly spicy while banana peppers, unless it is the hot variety of banana pepper, are usually mld and sweet. While they can sometimes be used interchangeably in recipes due to their similar flavor profiles, they each have their own unique characteristics.
Try this recipe for pickled banana peppers. If swapping for the peppers in the recipe, the flavor will be different and not quite as spicy, but still delicious.
