'Tis the season for giving! I just love this time of year. I love picking up special presents for special people in my life and making treats to show appreciation. The Bible teaches that it's better to give than receive (Acts 20:35) and it's true. Most of the time, I can't remember right away what I received the previous year for Christmas, but I do remember what I gave or at the very least, I remember the excitement (or possibly lack thereof!) from the people that received my gift. We get joy out of giving and I think that's how God intended it to be. God gave His Son to show us the way and save us from our sins. Jesus gave us hope, faith, and love. Besides telling others about God's love for us, I think we are called to give whatever we can, whenever we can. There will always be people less fortunate than us, at all times of the year. I struggle to remember this every day and look for ways that I can help others.
Compassion International never forgets this mission and hasn't since they began supporting children in 1952. Their goal is to help raise money for children in poverty, all throughout the year. You can help Compassion International raise $20,000 for children in poverty this Christmas season. Visit Compassion International's Christmas Gift Catalog to select how, where, and how much you would like to help out. You can choose to sponsor a child, provide clean water for a family for a lifetime, disaster relief, and much more. Compassion International knows how to make your dollar go to where it's needed and can get the most for people in need. You can give as little or as much as you'd like. Every amount counts and any amount will make you feel good, I promise! Blessed are those that give, for it is better to give than receive!
