I love to cook new recipes from scratch. I have many recipes pinned and saved to try on a rainy day. However, I always have the problem of justifying buying the ingredients for a dinner project. For instance, if my recipe calls for a tablespoon of fresh chopped cilantro, I then have to find other recipes to use my cilantro in because I can’t just buy exactly what I need. And when buying meat and even vegetables, it’s hard to get exactly what you need so there isn’t any waste. I was really excited to learn about Hello Fresh and the revolution they’re making to the homemade dinner. Hello Fresh is an innovative company that delivers exactly what you need for dinner, right to your door.
When my Hello Fresh package arrived, Baby D and I unpacked it. I was very happy to see these informative recipe cards, complete with great pictures, explaining exactly what you needed for the meal and on the back, directions!
Inside I found lots of FRESH ingredients in one of the most eco-friendly packaging I’ve seen for products that need to remain cold during shipping. The boxes and insulated packaging is recyclable and the ice packs are water based so they can be drained and thrown away.
Each bag was labeled with the name of the meal so you can find exactly what you need, when you are ready to cook! I decided to prepare the Tomato, Barley, and Beef meal first. I got all of the ingredients out and quickly read over the instructions.
The instructions were so easy to follow and I cooked this awesome meal! It was so nice to have everything in the box that I needed (except for olive oil, water and the pans, of course.)
The dinner turned out so yummy! Everything was perfect, including the pine nuts on top! Hubby really enjoyed the meal, too.
The other two meals were Mustard Glazed Baked Fish and Chicken Pasta with Peas and Shiitake Mushrooms. For the fish, Hello Fresh included two packets of Dijon mustard and mayo in case we didn’t have any on hand. So they really do come with everything but the oil and butter, even the spices!
All of the three Hello Fresh meals turned out so yummy and each meal was enough for two and our two little ones.
If you’re interested in ordering from Hello Fresh, check out the website. They are limited to the Eastern US right now, but they are expanding to new delivery areas all of the time. Check out the map below:
