Easy Pepperoncini Chicken Alfredo Recipe

I am always looking for new recipes that my family will love. The classic chicken alfredo is always well received, but this pepperoncini chicken recipe is a winner, too. This family favorite combines tangy pepperoncini peppers with alfredo for a winning combination. Served over rice, pasta, or even on a toasted bun, there is a variation for everyone’s preferences. 

The delicious sauce is creamy and satisfying. This is one of those easy recipes you want to keep on hand for a great weeknight meal that is quick and relatively easy. It does take a little planning to make sure that you have all of the simple ingredients on hand. 

What are pepperoncinis?

Pepperoncinis, also known as Tuscan peppers, golden Greek peppers, or sweet Italian peppers, are a type of mild chili pepper. They are typically bright yellow or green and are about 2 to 3 inches long. They are commonly pickled and used as a condiment or ingredient in various dishes. Pepperoncinis have a tangy, mildly spicy flavor and are often found in salads, sandwiches, and antipasto platters. They are also popular as a pizza topping and can be used to add a bit of zest to various recipes.

Are pepperoncinis banana peppers?

Pepperoncinis and banana peppers are similar but distinct types of peppers. Pepperoncinis are usually more wrinkled, while banana peppers have smoother skin and a more uniform appearance. Pepperoncinis are mildly spicy while banana peppers, unless it is the hot variety of banana pepper, are usually mld and sweet. This is the brand of Italian Pepperoncinis used, but regular version works well, too.  Of course, add extra garlic if you love it.

Pepperoncini Chicken Alfredo

Pepperoncini Chicken Alfredo

Yield: 5 servings

This Pepperoncini Chicken Alfredo will become your new favorite meal! The creamy sauce with just the right amount of spice coming from the pepperoncinis.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb of chicken breast (cut into bite sized pieces)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 2 tbsp garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup of chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup of Italian seasoned sliced pepperoncinis

Instructions

  1. Add the butter to a large pan over medium - high heat.
  2. Add in chicken.
  3. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the top of the chicken and stir.
  4. Brown the chicken all over, making sure it is cooked through.
  5. Remove cooked chicken from pan to a plate.
  6. Add the onions and garlic to the pan and stir for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Add the chicken stock and stir.
  8. Add the heavy cream in slowly while stirring at the same time.
  9. Sprinkle the Parmesan in and stir.
  10. Add the pepperoncinis and the chicken to the pan stir around to coat everything and turn off the heat.
  11. Serve over rice, mashed potatoes or pasta and enjoy.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days
If the sauce is too thick you can add more chicken stock.
If the sauce isn’t thick enough add more heavy cream.
Save time by using frozen diced onions!
